Notes on Lavender

Lavender may truly be the Queen of all essential oils. Its beautiful, round, sweet, floral scents are wonderful to breathe in, and even more lovely when you come to find how it can make you feel. Deeply relaxing, calming and soothing, Lavender is great in a lot of situations.

Lavender’s flowering tops are where its essential oil comes from. They are grown in a number of locations, but the most prominent ones are France and Bulgaria. There are a few different species that are used in aromatherapy, however Lavandula angustifolia is the best known.

Lavender is the most widely used essential oil and the most researched as well. It has shown time and again that it can reduce levels of anxiety, help with sleep and insomnia issues as well as assist with lessening the feelings of stress. Lavender has even shown in several studies that inhaling it can lower the level of cortisol in the body, otherwise known as our “stress hormone.”

Breatherapy uses French high altitude Lavender in several of our tabs, including Calm, Sleep, and Soothe.
